The formalized objectives within Blue’s activities are outlined in the environmental program, signed by the Chairman and CEO. These subjects are managed by the QHSE and R&D departments, as well as monitored by the Policy Officer and the Sustainability Officer meeting the requirements of the European Battery Regulation. Although GEN4 products are not yet developed nor marketed at an industrial scale, the objectives have been identified, formalized, and will take effect once production begins. For instance, by 2031, all Gen4 industrial battery model with a capacity greater than 2 kWh must include

16% cobalt

16% cobalt sourced from the recovery of battery manufacturing waste or post-consumer waste.

6% nickel

6% nickel sourced from the recovery of battery manufacturing waste or post-consumer waste.

6% lithium

6% lithium sourced from the recovery of battery manufacturing waste or post-consumer waste.

Blue Solutions has set specific objectives regarding the recyclability of its batteries, aiming to:

  • Achieve a recycling capacity of 65% of the average weight of its batteries by 2025
  • Achieve a recycling capacity of 70% of the average weight of its batteries by 2030.

By 2024, Blue Solutions has been able to recycle 70% of the average weight of its GEN 3 batteries.

Further initiatives include:

  • Achieving a 90% copper recovery capacity by 2027 for Gen2 and Gen3 industrial battery models.

By 2024, Blue Solutions have achieved an average overall copper recovery rate of over 50%.

  • Achieving a 50% lithium recovery capacity by 2027 for its battery models with a capacitygreater than 2kWh

This objective has already been achieved by 2024 for Gen3 models. The experimental model currently being formalized demonstrates a recovery capacity of between 80 and 90%.

Blue Solutions is preparing to comply with the EU Battery Regulation’s supply chain due diligence requirements by mapping the origin of key raw materials, assessing supplier risks. Additionally, the company will be conducting third-party ESG audits. It plans to implement digital traceability tools enforcing a strict Supplier Code of Conduct and providing training to its suppliers. An internal governance team oversees the process, ensuring transparent reporting through sustainability reports, future battery passports and regular audits.

By focusing on the entire value chainfrom raw material (primary or recycled) to end-of-life, Blue Solutions demonstrates a deep commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting the eco-circularity of its products.

Through these efforts, Blue Solutions is dedicated to advancing sustainable practices in battery production and adhering to evolving industry and regulatory standards.
